20 of CFS got in the water to help with the baptisms with others cheering on from the beach,  a new Church from Scratch record.

And more importantly it was a clear statement that we are a church passionate about every member ministry – a church were all are involved in ministering to each other. A community where we share life with each other and together we shout, “We baptise you in the name of the Father! The Son! And the Holy Spirit!”

With believer’s baptisms about baptising people into the church, what could be better than the church gathered around each baptism candidate, getting wet and joining in the baptism experience with them. Showing that CFS is with them in their baptism and will be supporting them in the months ahead.

It was a blistering hot Sunday with a packed seafront in Westcliff on Sea with the hundreds of sunbathers given a front seat view of people committing to Jesus and his church in baptism.

And then off the beach to the second part of the event where we heard the stories of God at work in these people’s lives.  Prayed for them and a ceremony based on the Chinese church used to send the three out to be Jesus’ ears, eyes, hands, heart and feet in the months ahead – but you really needed to be there to appreciate that part!
