great discussion starter and fresh ...some people see rules as walls...what do you build with living stones?

Excellent! This is biblical church planting. Jesus commands us to GO (and make disciples) not require them to COME to us, no?

I've used the "Missional Church - Simple" one from the U.S. loads of times which is great but find the American accent an obstacle for some but this says the same important stuff but Britified so - thanks very much! Just what I wanted. Will road test on a church tomorrow!

Spot on! Thanks for this. I always think felt tip pens demonstrate stuff in a unique way.

I've been feeling an unease for the last few months about my 'doing of church' - whether what I'm involved in in our community is really what Jesus wants me to be doing. Yes, I believe what I've been doing has had some use - the church does need to be more accessible and more relevant to those who feel disassociated with it - but is it really what Jesus wants from me. Do I need to be the person trying to drag people onto 'my' side of the wall, or do I need to be going out and loving people without any walls between us? Your 'cartoon' has given me huge inspiration and clarity. THANK YOU.

Hi Peter - great video and love the message but interested to know what you mean by the title? When I read "Stop starting with church" I thought it was going to be one of those impassioned defences of the traditional church model along the lines of "why I love the church" and "why we are not emergent" etc etc... sooo glad that it wasn't! :)

Ah I get it now, that makes sense. As in: we're not called to make churches but to do mission (and church may come out of that but only as a means to an end, not the end itself). Thanks for taking the time to answer my question! As to the question you asked in return, I think my answer would be as follows: they should find a model for community that responds to the specific situation in which they find themselves and, when it eventually gets too big and institutional (where the community becomes the end in itself and not the means), they should choose a few people from among them and send them out to respond to some new and different situations. How does that sound? (Easier said than done perhaps?!) :)

A great video. A lot of Church's need to take note of this, especially in the rural areas.
