Why do Christians leave churches? Have they lost their faith? Have they become selfish victims of a consumer culture? Are they struggling to balance life & faith in a busy society? Are some leaving church in order to keep their faith? Research suggests that many 21st century British believers are increasingly identifying a gulf between their experience of faith and their experience of church and in a move to keep their faith are feeling the need to distance themselves from an expression of church that feels disconnected from their lives. Emerging church, fresh expressions, deep church, alternative church, incarnational church and new monasticism are explored by many in this situation. In this evening session we will explore what these titles mean and investigate lessons that inherited churches can learn from them that will enable them to remain connected with those on the verge of leaving church. If you want to help believers express their faith in your church; you are thinking of leaving church; you feel drawn to a new expression of faith - this event is for you!
