We are developing plans to become a church that facilitates church planting. We helped setup the Incarnate Network for church planting a few years ago but now feel that we should personally be involved in planting churches.
- We have secured funding to enable us to work with others in church planting.
- We have formed a steering team for the church planting work which includes Steve Hembery (Leigh Road Baptist Church) and Sheila Martin (Regional Minister).
- We are setting half of Peter Dominey's time aside to lead a team that will facilitate, advise and work towards the planting of new churches in the region.

Plans are at an early stage so the following is tentative but worth saying...
What activities could this involve as we partner with Baptist churches and others in church planting?
- Working to develop strategic plans for church planting in the region.
- Building partnerships between sponsoring churches, organisations and individuals to bring about church planting in the region.
- Recruiting, deploying and supporting church planting teams.
- Networking church planting activities.
- Identifying and promoting church planting opportunities.
- Providing consultancy and training in church planting, drawing on insights and skills gained in the planting of Church from Scratch.
What models of church planting will we use?
We will support a breadth of models of church planting which could incude the following:
- planting in areas or people groups that lack missional Christian presence.
- planting in new housing areas (100,000's of new homes will be built in the Thames Gateway, and that building work has started!)
- congregational church planting where an existing church initiates a further congregation at or beyond their premises.
- "phoenix" type church planting where an existing church has died or is dying.
- translocal church planting, encouraging Christians to relocate to live in under-churched parts of the region.
What won't we do?
- Peter Dominey and team are not about to leave, move somewhere in the region and plant another church. He remains in leadership with CFS. CFS is looking to become a church that brings about church planting with that work led by Peter.
- We are not seeking to build an empire. We look forward to relating to the new churches that are planted, helping them and being helped by them. We do not look to have control over them.
We are one part of the jigsaw puzzle and looking for churches and individuals to partner with us in the venture.
We are relatively small and for this work to develop, mission partnerships need to be built with churches and organisations Get in touch to explore how you and your church might help shape this. Or for now simply subscribe above to receive occasional email updates or contact us:
